University of Tennessee Meeting Spaces
The University of Tennessee campus offers a variety of meeting venues for general sessions, classes, and activities. Our new Student Union features a 12,000 square foot ballroom, a 999-seat auditorium, and many other flexible meeting and seminar spaces. The Alumni Memorial Building is a spectacular venue for performers and audiences, featuring a 985- seat auditorium and 3 additional large auditorium-style spaces holding 200-360 people. UT’s Thompson-Boling Arena is a multi-purpose facility featuring seating for more than 21,000 and is an ideal riverfront venue for diverse events, conventions, and meetings. The spaces listed here are the premier facilities available on our campus, but there are numerous other theater and classroom options of varying sizes available for use as well as a wide variety of outdoor flexible spaces.
Student Union
This facility has a large 985-seat auditorium, a 12,000 sq. ft. ballroom, and many other flexible meeting spaces; along with dining, retail and support spaces. From small groups to large events, we can accommodate your needs in the Student Union.
Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center
Thompson–Boling Arena at Food City Center holds the distinction of being one of the five largest on campus arenas in the country with seating for as many as 21,000 participants. However, the building comes equipped with a series of large drapery curtains that can be utilized to provide a much more intimate atmosphere accommodating groups of 2,000 without feeling like the space is too large. Private viewing boxes can be accessed for reserved viewing areas or special guests, and a variety of support spaces are available as well.
Recreation Options
UT Conferences offers a variety of recreational options to keep your participants busy and interacting with each other while your event is on-campus. The Tennessee Recreational Center for Students (TRECS) offers an Olympic size outdoor pool that is heated and available for use by summer conferences’ guests. The RecSports Field, nearly 2.5 acres in size and adjacent to the outdoor pool, is an easily accessible recreational area also open to summer conferences’ guests and equipped with field turf and electronic scoreboards. In addition, UT offers many other recreational facilities and options. Our event staff can work along with your planning team to create a customized recreation event plan.
Downtown Knoxville
The Knoxville Convention Center, which is immediately adjacent to the University Campus, can be utilized to accommodate meeting needs with a Ballroom of 25,000 square feet along with an Exhibit floor of 120,000 square feet and up to 15 flexible meeting spaces.
World’s Fair Park
World’s Fair Exhibition Hall is a 66,396-square-foot facility perfectly positioned alongside the picturesque landscape of the World’s Fair Park between the urban core of downtown Knoxville and the campus of the University of Tennessee.
World’s Fair Park is an open green space area with a covered amphitheater situated between downtown Knoxville and the University of Tennessee Campus. The Festival Lawn is two acres of special turf that can accommodate a variety of events. The Performance Lawn is greater in size than two football fields and is directly adjacent to the Tennessee Amphitheater which has seating capacity of 1,000.
The Knoxville Civic Auditorium & Coliseum
The Knoxville Civic Auditorium & Coliseum is comprised of a 6,500 seat-capacity coliseum with 22,000 square feet of exhibit space, a 2,500 seat-capacity auditorium, a 10,000-square-foot exhibit hall, 4,800-square-foot ballroom and a performance lawn with a capacity of 10,000. The facility’s size makes it a complementary companion to Knoxville’s 500,000-square-foot Convention Center.
Downtown Hotels
Downtown Knoxville offers multiple national brand hotels, with more to come in the near future. We have the ability to contract with each of these properties to take advantage of their meeting space to accommodate your group.
