Food Allergy service plan

UT Conferences & Event Services has a new food allergy service plan in place to keep its clients and customers safe from food allergies.

Food Allergy Policy

All clients are required to notify the food service team of any allergies.

  • Clients will ask their attendees to notify them of any allergies or special food preferences.
  • Clients will communicate special food needs to the Sales Team at least 72 hours in advance.
  • Awareness training will be conducted for all food service employees.
  • Food service team members will have an understanding of the major common allergies.
  • Food service team members will have an understanding of effective front-of-the-house customer communication.
  • Food service team members are committed to seamless and effective communication between front and back-of-the-house.
  • Food service team members will use dedicated specific areas for food production to prevent cross contamination.
  • Food service team members will review all allergy requests during a pre-service line-up meeting.
  • Food service team members understand food allergies are medical conditions, not food preferences.
  • All Banquet and Event Order forms will be marked and highlighted for special procedures.
  • All allergy meals are to be plated covered and served.
  • The flow of food will be identified as a separate service for all allergy requests.

FDA Regulations

  • The FDA provides guidance to the food industry, consumers, and other stakeholders on best ways to assess and manage allergen hazards in food.
  • The FDA issues guidance documents to provide the food industry with its current stance on various issues. Many FDA guidance documents contain information about allergens.
  • Certain food safety regulations also contain provisions related to allergens and other ingredients that may cause sensitivities.
